What is the Persona 5 Fusion Calculator?

A fusion calculator persona 5 is an indispensable tool for players navigating the complex systems of the Velvet Room. Persona fusion is the core mechanic for creating new, more powerful Personas by combining two or more existing ones. This calculator simplifies the process by predicting the exact outcome of a “Dyad” (two-Persona) fusion based on the game’s intricate rules. Instead of trial and error, you can strategically plan fusions to fill your Compendium, create Personas with specific skills, or simply build the most powerful allies for your journey as a Phantom Thief.

The Persona 5 Fusion Formula and Explanation

Normal fusion in Persona 5 follows a strict, two-step formula. It’s not random; with the right data, the result is always predictable. Our fusion calculator persona 5 automates this process for you.

  1. Determine the Resulting Arcana: Every pair of Arcanas fuses into a specific, predetermined third Arcana. For example, fusing a Persona from the Fool Arcana with one from the Magician Arcana will always result in a Persona of the Death Arcana. This is governed by a fixed fusion chart.
  2. Determine the Resulting Persona: Once the Arcana is known, the specific Persona is found using the base levels of the two ingredients. The formula is: `Rank = ((Base Level of Persona 1 + Base Level of Persona 2) / 2) + 1`. The game then finds the Persona within the result Arcana whose base level is the first one equal to or higher than the calculated Rank. If no higher Persona exists, it may wrap around to the lowest.

Practical Examples

Example 1: Different Arcanas

  • Inputs:
    • Persona 1: Arsène (Fool, Base Level 1)
    • Persona 2: Jack Frost (Magician, Base Level 11)
  • Calculation:
    • Result Arcana: Fool + Magician = Death.
    • Calculated Rank: ((1 + 11) / 2) + 1 = 7.
  • Result: The calculator searches the Death Arcana for the first Persona with a base level of 7 or higher. The result is Mokoi (Base Level 9).

Example 2: Same Arcana

Fusing two Personas of the same Arcana results in a Persona of a lower rank within that same Arcana.

  • Inputs:
    • Persona 1: High Pixie (Fool, Base Level 16)
    • Persona 2: Obariyon (Fool, Base Level 8)
  • Calculation:
    • Result Arcana: Fool.
    • Calculated Rank: ((16 + 8) / 2) + 1 = 13.
  • Result: The calculator searches for a Fool Persona with the next lowest base level from the average, which isn’t one of the ingredients. In this case, it results in Arsène (Base Level 1).

Key Factors That Affect Persona Fusion

  • Base Level vs. Current Level: Standard fusion calculations always use the Persona’s base level, not its current trained level.
  • Special Fusions: Some Personas can only be created through specific, multi-Persona recipes and are exceptions to the normal rules.
  • Treasure Demons: Fusing with a Treasure Demon follows unique rules, typically upgrading or downgrading a Persona within its own Arcana.
  • DLC Personas: If you own DLC Personas, they are added to the list of possible fusion results, which can alter outcomes. Our calculator assumes no DLC by default.
  • Confidant Rank: While not affecting the fusion result itself, the Confidant rank of the result’s Arcana provides a significant EXP boost to the newly created Persona. Maxing out confidants is crucial and a Social Link Guide can be very helpful.
  • Fusion Accidents: During a Fusion Alarm (in Persona 5 Royal), fusions can have unexpected and often powerful results, which are not covered by this standard calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the current level of my Personas matter for fusion?
No, the formula for a normal dyad fusion always uses the base level of the ingredient Personas.
Why can’t I fuse two Personas?
Some Arcana combinations do not produce a result. Additionally, you cannot fuse a Persona if the result would be a higher level than your protagonist’s current level.
What is a “Special Fusion”?
A special fusion requires a specific recipe of three or more Personas to create one powerful, unique Persona. These are not available through normal two-Persona fusions.
How does this fusion calculator persona 5 handle Treasure Demons?
This calculator does not handle Treasure Demon fusion, as their results depend on the *current level* of the other Persona and follow different rules.
What happens if I fuse two Personas of the same Arcana?
This results in a Persona of the same Arcana but of a lower rank (base level) than the ingredients.
Why did I get a different result in the game?
The most common reasons are owning DLC Personas (which adds them to the potential results pool) or an active Fusion Alarm in Persona 5 Royal, which randomizes outcomes.
Where can I find all the Personas?
A full list is available in the in-game Compendium, or you can consult an online Persona 5 Royal Persona List.
How do I unlock more powerful fusions?
Progressing the Strength Confidant with Caroline and Justine unlocks advanced techniques like multi-persona fusions.
