What is a Persona 5 Royal Fusion Calculator?

A fusion calculator for Persona 5 Royal is a specialized tool that helps players understand one of the game’s most critical mechanics: Persona fusion. In Persona 5 Royal, the protagonist can combine two or more Personas in the Velvet Room to create a new, often more powerful, Persona. This process, however, is not random. It follows a complex set of rules based on the Arcana and base levels of the parent Personas. This calculator simplifies the process by showing you the exact result of any two-Persona (Dyad) fusion, saving you time, in-game money, and guesswork. Anyone looking to complete the Persona Compendium or create specific, powerful allies for battles will find this tool indispensable.

The Persona 5 Royal Fusion Formula Explained

Normal fusion in Persona 5 Royal is governed by two key factors: the Arcana of the parent Personas and their base levels. The game’s code does not care about the current level of your Personas, only their default starting level.

Formula for Resulting Persona

1. Determine Resulting Arcana: Every combination of two different Arcanas results in a specific third Arcana. For example, fusing a Magician Persona with a Priestess Persona will always result in a Hierophant Persona. Fusing two Personas of the same Arcana also follows a specific rule, usually resulting in a lower-ranked Persona of that same Arcana.

2. Calculate Average Base Level: The game calculates the average of the base levels of the two parent Personas, then rounds up. The formula is: `(Base Level of Persona 1 + Base Level of Persona 2) / 2`.

3. Find the Result: The game looks for the first Persona within the determined Resulting Arcana whose base level is higher than the calculated average level. That Persona becomes the result of the fusion.

Variables Table

Variables Used in Dyad Fusion
Variable Meaning Unit Typical Range
Parent Persona A The first Persona used in the fusion. Persona (Name, Arcana, Base Level) Any from Compendium
Parent Persona B The second Persona used in the fusion. Persona (Name, Arcana, Base Level) Any from Compendium
Resulting Arcana The Arcana of the fused Persona, determined by a fixed chart. Arcana Type Fool, Magician, etc.
Resulting Persona The final Persona created by the fusion. Persona Name Any from Compendium

Practical Examples

Example 1: Cross-Arcana Fusion

  • Input 1: Jack-o’-Lantern (Magician Arcana, Base Level 2)
  • Input 2: Silky (Priestess Arcana, Base Level 6)
  • Process:
    • Magician + Priestess = Hierophant Arcana.
    • Average Level = (2 + 6) / 2 = 4.
    • The next Hierophant Persona with a base level above 4 is Berith (Base Level 9).
  • Result: Berith

Example 2: Same-Arcana Fusion

Fusing two Personas of the same Arcana works differently. The result is the next-lowest-ranked Persona of the same Arcana.

  • Input 1: High Pixie (Fool Arcana, Base Level 16)
  • Input 2: Obariyon (Fool Arcana, Base Level 8)
  • Process: Since both are Fool Arcana, the result is the next available Fool Persona with a base level lower than Obariyon’s.
  • Result: Arsene (Base Level 1)

Key Factors That Affect Persona Fusion

  • Base Level: This is the single most important numerical factor. Current level does not matter for fusion calculations, only the default level of a Persona.
  • Arcana Combination: The specific pairing of the two parent Arcanas strictly determines the Arcana of the resulting child Persona. There’s a master Persona 5R Arcana Fusion Table for this.
  • Special Fusions: Some Personas cannot be created through normal dyad fusion and require specific recipes of three or more Personas. These are called Advanced or Group Guillotine fusions.
  • Player Level: You cannot fuse a Persona whose base level is higher than your current character level. The option will be grayed out in the Velvet Room.
  • Same-Arcana Fusion Rules: Fusing two Personas of the same Arcana results in the next-lowest ranked Persona of that Arcana, which is a different outcome than cross-arcana fusion.
  • Treasure Demons: Fusing any Persona with a Treasure Demon has unique rules. It will always result in a Persona of the same Arcana as the non-treasure parent, but ranked up or down.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Why can’t I fuse a Persona even if I have the right recipe?
The most common reason is that your character’s level is too low. You cannot create a Persona with a base level higher than your own.
2. Does the current level of my Personas matter for fusion?
No. For determining the fusion result, the game only uses the base level of the parent Personas, not their current trained levels.
3. What happens in a “Fusion Accident”?
During a Fusion Alarm (a new mechanic in Persona 5 Royal), fusions have a chance to “fail,” resulting in a Persona different from the expected outcome, often with a unique set of skills. This is rare during normal fusion.
4. How do Special Fusions work?
Special Fusions require a specific set of three or more Personas to create one powerful, specific Persona. This calculator focuses on Dyad (two-Persona) fusions. You can see the recipes for All Ultimate Persona Bios in-game.
5. What’s the point of fusing Personas?
Fusing allows you to create much stronger allies, pass on powerful skills, and fill out your Persona Compendium, which provides discounts. It is a core mechanic for progressing in the game.
6. Why is the result of my fusion a lower level Persona?
This typically happens when you fuse two Personas of the same Arcana. The rule for this specific case is to find the next available Persona of that Arcana with a lower base level.
7. How do I get the Personas listed in the calculator?
You can obtain Personas through negotiation in Palaces and Mementos, or by fusing them in the Velvet Room. Once a Persona is in your Compendium, you can summon it for a fee.
8. Does this calculator account for DLC Personas?
This calculator uses a representative sample of standard Personas to demonstrate the fusion mechanic. DLC Personas can alter fusion results, so always double-check in the Velvet Room if you have DLC installed.
